Going Away

One of our friends from small group is leaving us and going back to CA because they graduated. (The otehr is just going to visit, then he's back) We're so excited for her and it seems so right for her to do, but we're also so sad to see her leave.

Our small group had a small graduation party and goodbye party:

We played pin the accessories on our friends :)
Toasted our own cupcakes with torches
and jammed to an 80's inspired pandora station

S'more cupcakes:
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups flour
3/4 cup plus 1 tbs cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tspbaking soda
1 tsp salt
2 eggs; room temp
1 cup milk
1/2 cup oil
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup boiling water
1 1/2 cups graham cracker; smashed to crumbs
1/3 cup butter, melted
9 ounces semisweet chocolate; finely chopped

3     add flour mixture to large bowl and mix uwell
4     add in boiling water, stir until combined, and let sit
5     mix graham crackers, melted butter and 1/4 cup sugar in a bowl
6     put about 1 tbs in the bottom of 24 cupcake liners, in a tin
7     smash the graham cracker mixture down evenly along the bottom, using the bottom
of a glass works really well
8     place about 2 tsp in the bottom of each cupcake and bake for about 5 minutes
9     fold any extra choclate into the batter, then fill each liner about 3/4 full of the cake batter
10   bake for 18-20 minutes, toothpick should come out clean
11   let cool completly before you frost them

Marshmallow Frosting:

8 egg whites
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp white wine vinegar OR 1/2 tsp lemon juice
2 tsp vanilla

1     put egg whites, sugar, and white wine vinegar in metal bowl
2     put water in a saucepan and bring to simmering
3     place egg white bowl in saucepan
4     constantly whisk the mixture, until the sugar is dissolved and egg whites are
warm to the touch (don't cook the egg)
5     beat with a whisk, or whisk attachement until stiff peaks form
6     whisk in vanilla
7     use immediately, ice cupcakes
8     using a torch, toast the frosting until it starts to brown
9     top it with a square of chocolate!

We're finding it really hard now that 4 of our friends have/are moving. It's so hard to see people leave when we feel like we just got to know them. Feeling lonely has been on our minds lately. We know we still have great people around us it's still just hard sometimes. We've been talking a lot about it and what we want out of a community in Seattle, what God wants with us here in Seattle, how He can use us, how we can help each other be better friends to the people around us, what we think community should look like versus what we think we want, how to be supportive to people and deeper with people, how our work community looks and how we can be more intentional and loving to/with them.
We really want to take this summer to focus on a lot of these

So LOTS of questions and thoughts on our minds lately. So if you think of us pray that we can follow through with these and not just let us stop seeking it and that we allow it to develop in a way that is fruitful and following in God's will for us.

Thank you!
