Concerts, Euchre, Rain Rides

 

This past weekend was lovely! On Friday night we started the night with tacos. Saw Sturgill Simpson- whose voice is amazing live. Grabbed a hot dog with cream cheese from a cart. Had a Moscow mule at Montana Bar and hung out outside.

 

Saturday we went to a euchre tournament, our team name was swing state swingers. We hung out with a bunch of people from the Midwest and we all instantly became friends. Started off winning and ended in 4th place. Somehow we shoved 6 games of euchre into one night.

Sunday we hopped on our bikes and had brunch downtown with our friend Liz. The ride home was quite rainy but it was really nice to be back on our bikes. Spent the afternoon baking for a United Way bake sale and Joshua fit in a little work.

Concerts

Joshua messaged me the other day saying he's getting us tickets to an acoustic show that night. I love when that happens, we just have a free night and one of us comes up with something fun to go do together randomly. I pulled up my end by grabbing sushi on the way home, which we ate at our favorite brewery nearby and then walked over to the show. Trampled by Turtles front man was playing and it was the perfect weeknight show.

 

Then the next weekend Jamestown Revival was playing, currently my favorite band. Joshua snagged tickets and we headed to the u-district. Since we used to live there it was fun to go back and reminisce. We ate at our favorite thai place, drank $4 margaritas at Flowers and headed to the Neptune. It was shocking that Jamestown Revival wasn't the headliner because they were spectacular! Sound better in person, I love the awkward dance moves & giant hats, only makes us want to be cowboys even more. So many people there had cowboy hats, I may have to get one of those on Joshua. The headliner was okay so we mostly people watched and chatted, then we bused back home in the rain.  

Lovely beginning to Fall

We had a lovely relaxing! fall weekend.
We started off with a rainy bike ride to catch the Old Crow Medicine Show. This show was so well put together, serious entertainment! They had harmonica battles, epic whistling, fiddle dancing, clogging, the main singer was so on it and his pants had rhinestones :) We capped off the night pulling our friend Liz out of bed to grab a drink with us.

Saturday we took naps! Grabbed sandwiches and chilled at a brewery. Rock climbed a bit that night and met up with a friend for a quick drink.

Sunday I headed to the market to hang out with my friends parents who are visiting, we did some chores, rode our bikes to Fremont for some reubens, read on our "porch" (sidewalk), and played some Settlers of Catan.

 

I really really love the first rainy weekend, granted it still had plenty of sun, but I love the guilt-free weekend where you can watch movies, drink multiple cups of coffee and walk around in overalls and a scarf!

Josh's Dream Concert

I was perusing the internet for Seattle bands that would be in town just to make sure we didn't miss any we'd want to see when- I found out Jeff Tweedy from Wilco would be doing a solo show in Seattle!! You see this is a huge deal. Joshua loves Wilco and almost exclusively plays these songs on his guitar. He also has listened to his solo live album too many times to count (as have I) and he has always wanted to go to one.

I found tickets and tried to keep it a secret but one night I was to excited and spilled the beans. The show was all he wanted it to be, we had great seats, his voice and guitar skills were beyond words- simply amazing, he chatted through it all with jokes, played "Mountain Bed" and ended it with an acoustic song.

I let Joshua pick out my outfit- first he chose a short silk summer dress which I had to reject and so it ended up with a red dress and tall boot with no tights haha ( my knees were cold )

It was perfect. And hubs is super happy!!

This December...

We've had a very different December compared to the last few months. Hiking season has died down, rain has overtaken the sunshine. But I love what that means for people in Seattle. It means more parties, dinners out, movies, concerts, conversations over mulled wine. Joshua and I always look forward to how it slows down and friendships can deepen.

So far we've gone to a Lego Christmas party, so much food, amazing food! And legos! Yes it was awesome!

Joshua and I played hookie one day a week ago and went to a concert in the middle of the day. It was amazing! So so much good music. Plus we walked around the Christmas decorations downtown and had a nice slow dinner together.

The Farmer's market is even getting in the spirit. My favorite was the potato winter scene :)

Lots of caramel making and wrapping going on at our place for gifts and for fun. These are espresso ones

Went to see the Hobbit with some great friends. The place next door even had Hobbit cupcakes :)

Ah Great movie!!!

Plus lots of dinners and drinks with co-workers and each other.

So that's what we've been up to. Nothing extraordinarily exciting but a lot of fun! A good slow season that we need.
