A Mid Summer Night's Dream

One of my favorite summer traditions is going to Shakespeare in the Park. I love how all they have are a small handful of props and actors that can then transport you entirely into the play. The actors in Greenstage are always excellent and I was a little weary it wouldn't top the Taming of the Shrew we saw last year, but they delivered. We were laughing out loud and getting sucked into the Shakespeare vernacular. I love the simplicity of the environment but the passion with which it is performed. I also love that Joshua really gets into it too, never thought I'd be lucky enough to land a guy that is willing to try new things and experience art with me the way he does.

We biked up to the park and feasted on chocolate, cherries and coffee laying on a picnic blanket while the sun set and the story unfolded- it was bliss.


Also earlier in that day I did my second training ride. Hubs took me on a 32 mile ride and we rode around Mercer Island. It was great practice for me to learn how to use my gears better.

The Taming of the Shrew & toy stores

We're off to my sister's wedding soon and we needed a weekend to ourselves, the sun was shining and it was so so nice.

We headed downtown and walked along the piers with lattes and bagels, which is a great way to start off your morning!

And we headed into a really cool toy store downtown to buy some baby gifts for friends :) Plus we came out with a few toys for ourselves. Joshua was very into the little pick up scoop you could sit on haha

But our evening was what was really spectacular. We went to Magnuson Park to watch Shakespeare in the Park, they were doing The Taming of the Shrew (10 things I Hate about You is based off of it, and it's my favorite movie)

We took a picnic of sushi, blueberries, blackberries, cherry sodas, and licorice

It was the BEST play I've ever seen performed! It was so magnificent. It was hilarious, like laugh out loud the whole time kind of funny. The players were great and the story was so fun and full of personality. The sun set as we were watching it and we felt totally transported. I think the whole car ride home the most we could say was "wow that was awesome" on repeat.

We ended the night with a bottle of wine and our new toy :) We bought a Settlers of the Catan made for 2 people! It is so stinkin fun! Hubs beat me both times but I will get my vengance. And yes are aware that we are becoming nerdier as we age, not cooler :)

Seattle Sounder Soccer Game (+Beckham)

I've been dying to go to a Seattle Sounders game out here!

 I've been told soccer games out here are a big deal and really fun to go watch live.

OH MAN! We had a blast!

We got cheap tickets from someone at Joshua's work and was so cool!

The stadium is gorgeous and our nose bleed seats actually gave us a

great view of the downtown skyline with the sun setting over it.

They had people parachute in with the game ball, there were fireworks,

they have their own band, cheers, flags, it was so cool to be in the atmosphere of it all

There were over 60,000 people there!!! WHAT!!!! to watch soccer!!!

We won 4-0 against LA Galaxy!

David Beckham is on their team so we go to watch him play which was

really sweet, and unexpected because I forgot to look up who we were playing.
(my little sister texted me when I told my dad this and asked me to take pictures of him :)

The best I could do was a picture of him on the big screen haha)

But still fun to watch how calculated and accurate he was.

Now I'm dying to go watch another!!!

This weekend Joshua and I had a blast. We spent Friday night at a bar where we had banger & mash and mussels with friends from my work. We also went to an art show of one of the girls I work with, Tomoko, who is so so talented. Her paintings just make me happy! (she sells cards with the paintings on them too!!)

Then people from Josh's work showed up so we hung out with them as well. Which was quite cool.

On Saturday I hung out with some lovely ladies from my small group and ate sushi, candy cane jo jo's (trader joe's oreos!!!) and watched Love Actually! We also talked about boys, Christmas, and made sure each other ate plenty of sugar. Hubs went out with one of his friends from work/chuch as well.  It was one of the few weekends that evolved the way one would if we were still in Cincinnati, makes Seattle feel more and more like home. We feel like God is constantly been there with us in Seattle answering prayers like this! And thank you everyone who has been praying for us.

BUT on Sunday we took on the Agin family tradition of cutting down a Christmas tree. He now says he'll never go back - our apartment smells delicious! Plus it was so much fun to drive to the tree farm on a sunny Sunday while filling out Christmas cards and stopping at Wendy's for caramel apple frosties and fries, swung by Target to get a tree stand, lights, and do some Christmas shopping. I know Joshua is my hubs but that day felt like more, a cozy family day, the ones that relax you and it feels really nice to us that we are doing/making traditions with each other. Christmas time can feel so rushed and hectic and we really want to do it all together and this day just felt perfect.

Shakespeare in the Park

I love going to free Shakespeare shows. My friend Laurie and I went to see one in Boston and it was a huge production with a stage setup. But this one in Volunteer Park is simple. Pretty much no set but they do such a great job. And it really showcases how great the plays are. We saw Anthony & Cleopatra. It was actually really funny. Of course everyone dies in the end but Cleopatra was such sarcastic drama queen and when it happens in Shakespearean talk it is a riot!

Plus we are now IN LOVE with macaroons. I didn't get it they looked so hard and uneventful in flavor. But man o man they are sweet and soft and crunchy and melt in your mouth. We now dream of them!!!!

Since Pike Place Market is only a few blocks from work I went during my lunch hour and bought us goodies from my favorite places there. We had quite a fantastic spread of all things terrible for us.

Still putting our wedding napkins to good use. My mom packed them in our stuff :)

I love old soda bottles, plus they are super tasty
