We did a lot of casual hanging out once we were in Denver. We ate fancy donuts, got tacos, walked around in the sunshine, found fun and sunny places to eat outside, walked around the parks, took some naps. The one thing we did plan was going to the Katy Perry concert. We were very very excited. We had tier 3 tickets but no one was seated in front of us - until - we walked up the stairs and were diverted to a woman giving out better tickets. We ended up in row 1, like THE row 1. It was fabulous. I've never been to a really big concert, mostly small shows and small productions. This was amazing. There were dancers running all over, a huge lion head, she flew on a planet towards us, lots of confetti, giant lips that opened and closed, she was in the air multiple times. It was a great night. We very much enjoyed it!

Infinity Mirrors
Last week Joshua and I had our turn and it was really fun. I didn't tell him anything about the artist or her work which made me enjoy showing him even more.
Then we went to dinner downtown and went home. Very fun, and cheap, date night.

Date Night Redo
So on Saturday we spontaneously ended up on another one. We split a burger, played tons of skeeball (don't worry I kicked his butt at it), tried a "left shark shot" (from the Katy Perry halftime show (we thought it sounded fun)- they were very disgusting!) I'm glad we were able to give it another shot. I'm sad we ruined the first one but I love that we went out again and had a really fun night. It was what we had craved and makes me love our relationship a little more. Shooting for getting it right on our first shot the next time ;)
Also we went back to the place we started our fight at for brunch because a place that serves the best chicken and waffles needs redemption!

Brewing Professionals
We're becoming beer brewing pros, at least we've decided we are. I found a really great coupon to brew beer at Gallagher's and I couldn't pass it up (my mom's fault I'm sure :) The night before we finally bottled our first beer, a Hefeweizen, the night before and then headed out to this place the next morning. It was great to not have to clean anything we used and instead focus on the beer and its ingredients. There were people there we could ask tons of questions to so that when we go home we can brew our own beer with more understanding.
This time we made an IPA. Joshua thinks I'll convert over to the hoppy IPA's the more we brew and the more I handle the hops. I hope he's right because there are so so many IPA's out here. Their malt was in big vats and we got to use steam to heat it all up.

Date Night Darts
Since coming home from Christmas we've been trying to take it slow. We know the end of January and all of February will be busy and overwhelming so we've watched movies on the couch, knitted, played guitar and sipped lots of coffee. It has been just what we needed, but on Friday we were feeling a little stir crazy so we headed out to grab our favorite pizza and then to Murphy's to play some darts.
It was one of those date nights that makes my heart feel full. We played, drank a beer, listened to an energetic electric violinist and talked for hours. We talked about this year, some of our goals, how we've been doing. It was my favorite night of 2014 so far.

Josh's Dream Concert
I was perusing the internet for Seattle bands that would be in town just to make sure we didn't miss any we'd want to see when- I found out Jeff Tweedy from Wilco would be doing a solo show in Seattle!! You see this is a huge deal. Joshua loves Wilco and almost exclusively plays these songs on his guitar. He also has listened to his solo live album too many times to count (as have I) and he has always wanted to go to one.
I found tickets and tried to keep it a secret but one night I was to excited and spilled the beans. The show was all he wanted it to be, we had great seats, his voice and guitar skills were beyond words- simply amazing, he chatted through it all with jokes, played "Mountain Bed" and ended it with an acoustic song.
I let Joshua pick out my outfit- first he chose a short silk summer dress which I had to reject and so it ended up with a red dress and tall boot with no tights haha ( my knees were cold )
It was perfect. And hubs is super happy!!

Ballet Date
I love modern dance. It makes me excited, inspired and all those good things and luckily hubs has come to like it as well so he's willing to go with me. He even took off work early to come down and have lunch at a newish pasta place that I've been gushing about.
We dressed up, had a happy hour cocktail and sushi and went off to the ballet!
It was 4 short ballets and one was Petit Mort which I've been dying to see.
It is a very dramatic artistic ballet choreographed to Mozart. The first ballet is stunning and structured with swords and giant silk black cloths and amazing pairings then it's another Mozart piece using the same props and similar movements BUT funny-Sechs Tänze. It is comical and men wear the prop dresses and get stabbed by swords. It was fun to laugh and relax. The third one we started dozing off during (oops) but the last on was again very dramatic and electric.
Love date nights with this man, especially since he actually had fun going to the ballet with me :)
(I love the picture of the two of us behind the painting- we were told this employee took great photos, then he told us this was his favorite painting in the place and liked to take it here - it kind of scares me, and when I looked at it later I realized the lighting was terrible, so we tried to take a selfie that was equally horrible, photo fail)

Double Date Weekend
This weekend we accidentally ended up with 2 date nights. Friday night I won tickets to a play. It was a very intense play that involved fake blood, but we got to dress up and had chocolate martinis and tiramisu afterwards so I deem it a success.
Thursday I randomly bought us tickets to a show at Tractor because we'd been wanting to go see a band play there for awhile. I choose this one based on 30 seconds of listening to them online. Luckily I picked well both bands performances were really fun and we got to dance around a little and ride our bikes through the really nice October night.
We haven't been able to go out like this in awhile and they were also great ways to break up our weekend where I had to bake & decorate 2 cakes!
