Roslyn at 8 months

At 8 months old Roslyn has acquired lots of personality. She is a girl who wants to do it on her own and knows what she wants. But what she wants is to sit on one of our laps at all times while playing. She's always close by but now that she has become quite a good crawler she's beginning to venture off toward something that catches her eye. Mostly she seeks something she can use to stand up, whether it be sturdy enough for the task or not. She also likes to practice standing in the middle of the night while calling out to us, we are attempting sleep training which means no ones sleeping.

She is also teething, again! She is cutting her 5th & 6th teeth right now. So many for such a little mouth.

She has chosen a small hippo stuffed animal as a favorite and it is pretty darn cute how excitedly she reaches out for it. It seems to soothe her a bit when she's fussy. But nothing gets her going like some good music playing and dance moves that include an upside down dip. She likes big motion. Such as at the playground she likes swinging but only if it's high. She loves being pushed around in the cars but giggles out loud when you go fast or swerve. I think we're in trouble when she learns how to climb.

Roslyn is a happy little girl, happiest when both Josh and I are with her at the same time sitting on the floor with her. We're still learning about each other and it still feels like we don't know what we're doing at all but man is she cute!

Erika & Justice visit

We were so excited my sister Erika & her new husband Justice were able to come visit in December. Since we live so far apart we haven't gotten a lot of time to know him or them together so we loved getting some time with just them. We rented a cabin and embarked on a few good adventures while they were here.

We love this snow shoe hike, Artist's Point. Everyone did great and Roslyn seemed to like the sound of the snow crunching under foot and actually wore her sunglasses the entire hike! I also think Joshua and her shared a lot of sweat.

The view was clear, sunny, and stunning. We especially had a good time on the way down letting loose and just running down the snowy hills. Most of us took a few good, ridiculous looking falls into the snow once or twice.

We also popped off for a waterfall hike. It was a rainy weekend but as always our visitors were up for it. We hiked through some beautiful lush old growth, spotted a few waterfalls, and chatted along the way.

For dinner one night we had some time to kill so we made some pretty fancy dinner. We made homemade gnocchi, butternut squash sauce, and meatballs all from scratch. It was very very very tasty. It was a lovely trip and we really treasure getting to spend the one on one time with them!
