Drive in & Symphony

The next day was a bit of a bust. We tried to get into Yellowstone the next day to do a hike and ended up in a 7 mile line of traffic. Obviously, we turned around and drove right outta there. Problem was we had no plan for the rest of the day.

So we drove around for a bit, found a nice sunny place to hang out, popped the top and had nice nap. We spent time reading, called my mom, played with Roslyn, and lounged around all day in this random clearing.

That night I found a drive in movie theater for us to go to. I've been wanting to go to one in Walter since we got him. We were second in line, got our spot all picked out, turned on our twinkly lights and hit up the concession stand. Right as the movie started we got a very fussy baby down to sleep and draped the blankets over ourselves to watch Hotel Transylvania 3. Yeah, that was the option. Luckily it happened to fit our mood and we enjoyed it, we wanted to stay to watch the 11pm movie but who in the world can stay up and watch a movie that starts at 11!

The next day we headed back to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Joshua's boss's wife plays in the orchestra there in the summer and they invited us to stay with them. We met up with them, saw their daughter in a play, had noodles and ice cream, and then they invited us to the symphony for free that night!

We were so excited. First we hit up the showers and lounged in heated pools. Then we put on our cleanest clothes and they introduced us to all these amazing creative people in this community they hung out with all summer. We found our seats and a few notes in Roslyn fell asleep, a state in which she remained until the applause at the end. Everyone was very impressed that #1 we braved bringing our baby to the symphony and #2 that she didn't make a peep. And the performance itself was breathtaking. There was a young conductor that played violin and conducted Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto and we loved it so much we found a version in vinyl and bought it for home.

The evening and music made us feel transported and out of body. It ended with us back at Joshua's coworkers house where he heated up bison, steak, fancy potatoes, and pulled every anti-pasta and delicious treat in his fridge and beautifully spread it onto the table. He poured us glasses of wine meant to pair with each type of meat and we sat with his daughters and ate and chatted. We went to bed, in a real bed, that night and I turned to Joshua and said 'tonight was full of all the good things' Just one of those nights that leaves an impression on you that lingers and fills you up. It was a great respite, and our hosts were just lovely.
