We didn't reserve campsites in advance, except this one. Right after we left the hot springs we booked 2 nights for on our way back into Idaho. We hadn't stayed anywhere for 2 nights! Excited for a vacation from our constant movement we loaded up on fun food, snacks, wine, bubbly water and parked ourselves right back near those hot springs.
I made crab legs, steak with homemade chimichurri, melon wrapped in prosciutto, caprese on sticks I whittled, bacon, eggs, biscuits, charcuterie snacks and so much more! Mostly we were recreating the amazing food we had at our friend's wedding!
It was so relaxing to have time to do nothing but whittle sticks for caprese, read books to one another by the fire, take daytime naps, and of course hit up the hot springs a bunch more times. But we did have a bit of a chipmunk problem. They hid under rocks right by our van and kept trying to get in. It was too warm to close the door to nap so we kept a pile of rocks to throw near them to scare them away. Only thing is, the rocks didn't scare them. Roslyn was in the van napping at one point and we were sitting on the ground right outside and when I go in to pick her up after she wakes up I see a chipmunk in the front seat! How did he get past us! I freaked out and was so grateful/relieved that it had been too afraid to venture past the front of the van. After that we created barriers into the van to cut them off!
